THE EVENT- SUN, JUNE 22

Trail Trek is a family oriented bicycling event and festival hosted by the Lincoln Journal Star and produced by a dedicated group of volunteers and other corporate sponsors. The goal is to promote a fun family cycling event with additional activities situated along the trails.

The various tours accommodate riders of all skill levels, and the best part is that it is NOT A RACE, so there is no hurry. Whether you are an avid biker who has training for a 100-mile ride, someone looking to spend some quality time with your family, or someone who has recently decided to be more active, Trail Trek has something for everyone. Don't forget to sign up for a drawing for your chance to win a NEW BIKE!

Proceeds from the event will help support Lincoln Area Trails.

REGISTRATION

To register for Trail Trek, simply fill out the registration form by clicking on the "Online Registration" or the "Print Registration" at the top, and mail it with your check to Great Plains Trails Network, GPTN, 5000 N. 7th Street, Lincoln, NE 68521.

Or, drop it by the Lincoln Journal Star at 926 P Street.

Registration packets may be picked up Saturday, June 21 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the stone shelter east of the main playground at Antelope Park.

SAFETY

Trail guides and monitors will be at the designated locations along with the various routes to assist with directions and getting riders across busy crossings. In addition, “Aid Stations” sponsored by neighborhood associations and businesses will be set up along the routes.

In order to make Trail Trek a fun, yet safe event, all participants are required to wear bike helmets. To ensure proper fit, we suggest visiting an Official Trail Trek Bike Store (listed below).

START TIME AT ANTELOPE PARK

From South 27th and A St. go east on A St. and trail to Memorial Drive (approximately 29th St.) There is a large park sign (brown with yellow lettering). Turn south (right) then turn left at first fork. Follow this road past Auld Pavilion (large white building) to the open stone shelter on east side of the parking lot.

A mass start begins at 9 a.m in front of the Auld Pavilion where we will have last minute announcements and a guest starter. You can start at a later time but will miss out on the excitement of almost 1,000 riders ringing their bicycle bells.
