Lincoln Northeast middle blocker Ashley Bartek has made an oral commitment to play volleyball at South Dakota State, beginning in the 2010 season.

Bartek, a 6-foot-3 junior, was second-team all-city and a Class A honorable mention all-stater after leading the Rockets in both kills (183) and ace blocks (94) last season. She chose South Dakota State over Indiana State, Denver, Bradley and Ball State.

Bartek becomes the state's third Division I volleyball college recruit from the class of 2010, joining Aurora's Jessie Allen (Kansas) and Archbishop Bergan's Courtney Cook (Kansas State).

She's the younger sister of Brooke Bartek, a former Super-Stater at Northeast and ex-Nebraska player who's now an outside hitter at Kentucky.
