* WHAT HAPPENED: The teams exchanged first-period power-play goals -- Kyle Gibbons for Lincoln and Jaden Schwartz for Tri-City -- before Tri-City got the game-winning goal by Radoslav Illo two minutes into the second period.

Lincoln had chances to tie the game in the third period, when the Stars outshot Tri-City 13-8.

Lincoln is 0-3 against Tri-City this season, and the Stars have lost six of their past seven games.

"We had chances all night," Stars coach Jimmy McGroarty said on his postgame radio show. "We were definitely the better team tonight.

"Hats off to our guys. They played well. It was a character effort."

* UP NEXT: The Stars get a rare Friday off before traveling to Waterloo on Saturday.
