Former Husker defensive back Daniel Bullocks is preparing for the 2006 NFL Draft (April 29-30). Each Wednesday, we'll highlight what he’s been up to, what he’s heard and what he’s seen along the road to the NFL.

"So far, I have met with three different ballclubs — the Atlanta Falcons, the Chicago Bears and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Falcons and the Bears were last week. It was a little strange; they didn’t really run me through a workout. Instead, I went through a lot of videotape with Atlanta’s secondary coach and talked through the plays. The Chicago scout mostly talked X’s and O’s with me, too, and he was impressed with how comfortable I was with all of the defensive plays. Several times he stopped the tape and had me diagram the play on the board and talk about what the different responsibilities are and all of the check downs. I was really comfortable doing that.

I worked out with the secondary coach from the Cincinnati Bengals at Pro Day last week. He came in to really work me out and get to know a little bit more about me. He put me through different drills like backpedaling, breaking on the 90-degree and 45-degree angle and slanting deep.

Probably 15 or 18 teams came to Pro Day to work us out. Overall, everyone was looking good there. Corey Ross re-ran his 40 in like 4.45. Titus Adams ran it in 4.9, which was better than his time at the combine. Le Kevin Smith did position drills. And Mark LeFlore, Matt O’Shea, Seppo Evwaraye, Brandon Koch, Sam Koch, Blake Tiedtke and Shamus McKoy had the chance to show what they can do.

I think a lot of the guys who worked out at Pro Day will probably get a good shot at the NFL. Probably five or six Huskers will get drafted. We’re all just working out and waiting for teams to call.

Some people are wondering how I’m feeling about working out with only three teams. I feel pretty good about it. I mean, I wouldn’t mind getting to work out with all of the teams, but Josh only worked out with five before the draft. It’s not about how many teams you meet with — only that one wants you.

I went to Arizona for a little time off, but now I’m back in Lincoln for more running, conditioning and lifting. That’s pretty much all I’m focused on right now because I’ve got a workout with Pittsburgh in early April."
