Husker weekend planned around spring game

The fourth annual Former Huskers All-Star Weekend to raise money for the charitable organization Former Huskers Inc. will be April 14-15 in Lincoln, the same weekend as the Husker Spring Game.

Former Huskers expected to attend fundraising events are Ahman Green, Joel Mackavicka, Kyle Vandenbosch, Dejuan Groce and Demarrio Williams, among others.

The weekend will open with an All-Star Fundraiser Banquet on Friday, April 14, at The Cornhusker Marriott.

A mixer with former Huskers will start at 7 p.m. The banquet at 7:30 p.m. will feature talks by professional speaker Aaron Davis and Rep. Tom Osborne. An autograph session will end the banquet.

After the banquet, at 10 p.m. April 14, an All-Star Party featuring many former Huskers will be held at Opulence Ultra Club, 1033 O St.

A fundraising basketball game is set for Saturday, April 15, after the Husker Spring Game.

The Former Husker All-Star Celebrity Basketball Game - Blackshirts vs. Redshirts will begin at 6 p.m. April 15 at Lincoln North Star High School. A special half-time performance by the All-Star Players will be directed toward youth in the audience.

The night of April 15 will end with a Former Husker Grand Finale All-Star Party at Opulence Ultra Club.

Tickets for all of the events are available online at www.formerhuskersinc.com. Tickets also are on sale at Total Image Urban Wear in Westfield Gateway Mall or at Oasis Barbershop, 2208 O St.

Former Huskers, Inc. was founded by Vershan Jackson. The organization supports youth scholarships, a mentoring program, strength and conditioning training programs and youth football.
