Nebraska wrestling coach Mark Manning is one of the assistant coaches for the U.S. freestyle team at this week’s 2007 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.
It is not the first time Manning has been part of the U.S. team — he was the head coach at the 2001 World Championships and was an assistant for the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games.
Manning is entering his eighth year as Nebraska’s head coach, and two of his former wrestlers —Brad Vering (84 kilograms) and Justin Ruiz (96 kilograms) — will be representing the United States in the Greco-Roman division.
The country of Azebaijan, where the World Championships are being held, is located north of Iran and east of Armenia.
