Just a month after winning his first professional tennis match, Lincoln native Jack Sock can now lay claim to his first pro tennis title.

The 17-year-old Sock defeated second-seeded Artem Sitak of Russia 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 6-3 in the finals of the $10,000 Ravenswood Wine Men's Futures Tournament on Sunday in Amelia Island, Fla. Sock, who trains at the Mike Wolf Tennis Academy in the Kansas City, Mo., area, won five matches in the weeklong United States Tennis Association clay event.

"I didn't know when it would happen, but I thought I could win one of these," said Sock, who reached the semifinals at an event last month. "I like clay a lot, it suits my game pretty well."

Sock and Sitak were tied at 2-2 in the third set before Sock, ranked No. 1 nationally in the Boys 18s, reeled off three straight games to grab control.

Sock collected $1,300 for winning. He intends to keep his amateur status so he can play for Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kan., in the spring and in college starting in 2011.

Sock's next tournament will be the Orange Bowl Junior international championships Dec. 7-13 in Key Biscayne, Fla.

Withrow, Hagan win titles

Jackson Withrow and Matthew Hagan won titles in the Boys' 18s and 16s, respectively, in the Missouri Valley Segment 3 Sweet 16 championships Sunday.

Withrow, an Omaha Burke junior, is a three-time defending state high school champion. Hagan defeated Creighton Prep teammate Anthony Del Core 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).
