Eagle Raceway's Roger Hadan is taking on Mother Nature again in his quest to bring some NASCAR Sprint Cup stars to his track.
The Bootleggers Run Race of Champions - originally scheduled for Memorial Day but postponed indefinitely because of NASCAR's rain-delayed race in Charlotte, N.C. - is now set for October 3 at Eagle.
Hadan ended up with that date in large part because NASCAR's event at Kansas Speedway is Oct. 4.
Three of the four racers who were to participate and race IMCA modifieds at Eagle last month - Casey and Roger Mears, and Jimmy Spencer - have committed to drive at Eagle on Oct. 3. Dave Blaney and former NASCAR champion-turned-commentator Rusty Wallace will not be coming, but Hadan has secured Michael Waltrip.
In addition, he is optimistic about getting at least one more racer from the trio of Kasey Kahne, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch. Hadan also noted that Kyle Petty has indicated interest, and he has talked to Richard Petty about joining him.
Should the former World of Outlaws driver Kahne make it back to Eagle, Hadan said it's likely that Kahne and some of the other drivers could race sprint cars.
Tickets from the originally scheduled show will be good on Oct. 3.
This will be Hadan's third crack at bringing the NASCAR drivers to Eagle, as a show planned there last year was rained out.
