EAGLE — Jason Danley figured a little home-cooking would alleviate the bad taste from a rough go Friday night. Danley, who admittedly struggled in the ASCS Midwest Region event at Junction Motor Speedway, made the call at 3 o’clock Saturday to head out to Eagle Raceway. The one-time track regular charged from the sixth row to win the feature race in the 360 sprints.

“After the way we struggled last night, we thought maybe we could get a boost coming back home,” said Danley, who has been chasing NCRA and ASCS points early in the season.

“We’ve been doing pretty well racing down in Kansas, but last night was bad. We needed something.”

Saturday’s feature had shaped up as a race between rookies Jack Dover and Ryan Roberts for their first victory. Roberts, a teenager from Springfield, took the lead on a lap-5 pass and held it until working through lapped traffic.

Roberts, who started in the fourth row, was challenging for the lead on lap 18 when the two mini-sprint graduates tangled on the frontstretch. Dover held on to the lead but debris from his damaged front wing brought out the caution flag.

Dover was sent to the pits for repairs and Roberts was penalized two spots, handing Danley the lead. Larry Pinegar II came up to challenge in the closing laps but a timely caution allowed Danley to regroup and hold on for the win.

Mike Boston, seeking his fourth straight feature win, made up little ground from his row 6 starting spot.

In the IMCA modifieds, Mike Meyer drove past Sean Burklund with three laps to go to claim his second feature win. Other winners included Ron Novak of Blair in the IMCA hobby stocks and Adrian Dover in the four-cylinder tuners.
