The American Red Cross and Omaha Public Power District have teamed up again this year to help residents in 13 southeast Nebraska counties with their utility bills.
OMAHA - The American Red Cross and Omaha Public Power District have teamed up again this year to help residents in 13 southeast Nebraska counties with their utility bills.
The energy-assistance program kicked off Monday. It is aimed at helping residents in Burt, Cass, Colfax, Dodge, Douglas, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington counties.
Those who need help are encouraged to schedule an appointment to see if they qualify.
Last year, more than 1,000 families received $265,000 from the program to put toward their bills.
Assistance is available once per calendar year and is limited to $300 per household.
