The Nebraska Republican Party is taking issue with President Obama's summer "rural tour" that will include a stop in western Nebraska.

The Nebraska Republican Party is taking issue with President Obama's summer "rural tour" that will include a stop in western Nebraska.
State GOP Chairman Mark Fahleson says state Republicans appreciate the tour stop in Scottsbluff. But, he says, the GOP dislikes Democrats' pursuit of policies he says take direct aim at harming agriculture.
Fahleson says the White House's recent action on a cap-and-trade program within a proposed climate bill "suggest this tour may be more of a target on rural Nebraska than a tour."
Nebraska Democratic Party Chairman Vic Covalt counters the cap-and-trade program will mean more money for the state, because Nebraska farmers and ranchers already participate in programs to take carbon out of the atmosphere.
