Authorities have identified the Omaha man killed Tuesday morning in a weather-related accident on Interstate 80 near Utica.
Mario L. Carlock, 31, was westbound on the interstate about 13 miles west of Seward when he encountered blowing snow and patchy ice, according to Seward County Chief Deputy Sheriff Daniel Hejl.
He said Carlock lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median and collided with the rear axle of an eastbound semitrailer.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, Hejl said. The driver of the semi, Leland Potter Jr., of Kingman, Ariz., was not injured.
