Former McCook Community College coach Gary Payne says he didn't do anything illegal or have any improper contact with players.
McCOOK — A college volleyball coach who was fired Jan. 25 says he didn’t do anything illegal or have any improper contact with players, but he should have used better judgement.
Coach Gary Payne says in a letter to the McCook Daily Gazette newspaper that his firing by McCook Community College resulted from comments that other people posted on his personal MySpace Web page.
The Mid-Plains Community College administration has said only that Payne violated the school’s conduct rules for coaches and would not comment further, citing personnel policies.
