
University of Nebraska at Kearney officials have sent warning letters to students after discovering the university's computer system had been hacked.

KEARNEY — University of Nebraska at Kearney officials have sent warning letters to students after discovering the university’s computer system had been hacked.
The security breach involving nine university computers in early June.
Officials say of the nine computers, five contained names and partial or complete Social Security numbers. Officials say the breach originated in the Republic of Slovenia.
Deborah Schroeder is the assistant vice chancellor for information technology. She says no academic records were affected and the university has found no evidence that any of the Social Security numbers were retrieved or being used illegally.
