KEARNEY — A 19-year-old Kearney man who struck a Kearney High School teacher must perform 100 hours of community service while on his two years of probation.
Jeremy Cabe had pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault charges.
Cabe and another student got into a dispute while playing basketball on school grounds in March.
Police say that when the 49-year-old teacher approached, Cabe punched her, knocking her unconscious. Other school employees received minor injuries when they tried to detain Cabe.
Judge Gerry Jorgensen of Buffalo County Court last week also ordered Cabe to continue counseling and taking his medications.
