LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles will begin rolling out a new process for issuing drivers' licenses beginning July 20.

The changes are aimed at making the Nebraska license more secure to prevent fraud and identity theft.

The new system will require license applicants to present two forms of identification for address verification.

Cards will be mailed from a state processing center within five to seven business days, rather than issued in each county. Applicants will get a 30-day temporary document to use as a license or identification card.

Department officials say they will need to temporarily close many driver-licensing offices beginning July 20-21, as they launch the new system.

They will be reopened between July 23 and July 30.
