ASHLAND, Neb. — The mother of Olympian Michael Phelps will talk about her son’s struggle with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder during a visit to Nebraska.
Debbie Phelps is scheduled to speak at 11 a.m. Jan. 24 at the Strategic Air and Space Museum in Ashland.
Her son made history at the Beijing Olympics last summer, winning eight gold medals for the United States.
As a child, Michael Phelps had trouble sitting still in elementary school and was eventually diagnosed with ADHD, a lack of ability to concentrate.
Debbie Phelps’ talk will be part of a daylong seminar on health topics ranging from Alzheimer’s disease and autism to sleep disorders.
