GRANT — A western Nebraska woman has been found dead in her home, hours after returning there from her 29th birthday party.

Perkins County Sheriff James Brueggeman says Corrie Wood would have turned 29 on Monday. He says she had been celebrating her birthday a few days early with her boyfriend and a group of other friends Friday night.

Brueggeman says the boyfriend found Wood dead in her home around 10 a.m. Saturday.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Brueggeman says authorities on the scene weren’t able to determine her cause of death, but says there were no signs that violence played a part.
