JUNEAU, Alaska — A woman shot by a former employee at an Alaska hospital remains in critical condition.

A spokeswoman at Providence Alaska Medical Center says 57-year-old Margaret Stroup’s condition hasn’t changed since she arrived Wednesday night.

Her co-worker at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna were shot by recently fired employee Joseph Marchetti, hospital officials said.

Marchetti moved to Alaska a year ago. He previously worked at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Mike Webb, 55, did not survive the shooting, dying about two hours after Marchetti fired several shots shortly before 10 a.m. in the Soldotna hospital.

Stroup was hit several times in the chest and underwent surgery, then flown 75 miles north to the Anchorage hospital.
