OMAHA — State-of-the-art anthrax testing equipment will got into service Thursday at a mail processing site.

The system, which collects air samples and performs tests to determine whether biohazards are present, is being installed in mail-processing sites across the country. Omaha is the 160th of 282 such sites to get the equipment.

Other testing equipment was scheduled to be installed by late September in Lincoln, Grand Island and North Platte.

Rick Pivovar, senior manager of the Omaha site, said employees were pleased with the arrival of the equipment.

"They know we've taken the events following 9/11 seriously," Pivovar said. "We're concerned about their health."
