Successive letters to the editor have held in common their assertion that motorcyclists are stupid if they do not support the mandatory helmet law. Name-calling is not a particularly persuasive tactic, nor is it indicative of someone confident in the factual basis for their argument.
While I may in fact be stupid for riding a motorcycle, suspicion prevents me from believing that this small percentage of drivers is responsible for such a significant portion of our medical care burden. Reason also prevents me from supporting such government nannyism as the law represents, however popular our discrimination against this minority.

‘All Shook Up’ a good time
It was heartwarming to see the crowd at the Lincoln Community Playhouse enjoy “All Shook Up.” What a fun production from beginning to end.
I hope those who read the not-so-favorable review came to the play anyway. The cast, crew and the band provided an evening of song, dance and comedy. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the musical.
Get your tickets and come to a foot-tapping evening.

Reform election process
Thoughts to ponder:
Does a candidate running for the presidency still collect pay for being a state or national officeholder?
How does that resound with the citizens who are paying his/her salary?
Is it time for the federal government to have a law that, upon becoming a candidate for president, that candidate must resign from major political offices?
How can a candidate rightfully collect a salary when he/she is on the campaign trail month after month? How are state or federal government matters neglected when candidates do not attend to their paid positions?
When is it time to restructure the process of electing a president? Will Congress do it?
A more orderly, much shorter, less expensive, issue-oriented process is needed.

Opposed to state fair move
I am just a citizen of the state of Nebraska, and I am sure that the fair should stay where it’s at.
I voted for lottery money to help the fair succeed and stay at the present location. What part of that didn’t senators understand? If the State Fair is forced to move, I believe we should have a second chance on voting if lottery money continues going to the fair.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has campuses located in other areas of the city now. Would it hurt them to locate the research park at the Lancaster Event Center or elsewhere? It appears to me, because the university wants it, it gets it.
Senators, vote no to move the State Fair!

Cut deal with Grand Island
Chances are the days are numbered for Lincoln hosting the Nebraska State Fair.
The 2015 Vision people opened the door, and now the state fair likely will move to Grand Island.
Lincoln had a long run with the state fair, but the fair no longer works in the Star City.
Instead of fighting the move, I think Lincoln should instead make a deal with Grand Island and support the move in return for G.I.’s support of Lincoln’s proposed new downtown arena.
Grand Island would be perfect for the state fair, and a deal like this would benefit all of Nebraska.
I hope this can be worked out.
