Biz Buzz: More restaurant news

I saw a sign advertising a new restaurant coming to the strip mall at 14th and Superior that has the Ace Hardware and CVS. It will be called the Hog Pit BBQ and Pizza. It looks like it's going in on the far south end of the mall. That's all the info I have.

Biz Buzz: D'Leon's goes down

How tough is it to bring a new restaurant to O Street between 14th and Centennial Mall? Well, D'Leon's, which seemed as sure as death and taxes, has become the latest casualty.

Biz Buzz: Roost flies the coop

I'm about a day or two behind on this, but Roost has closed. I'm assuming it's for good, because the place was being gutted today. Chairs and tables were gone and kitchen equipment was sitting out in the dining area.

While I don't know if there's any truth to the rumor going around that there might be some long-sought after businesses eyeing the Wilderness Hills shopping center at 27th and Yankee Hill where Kohl's is, I do know for a fact that something is planned just to the east of there.

Biz Buzz: Another new Verizon Wireless store

There's remodeling going on in a former Godfather's Pizza location next to Blockbuster just north of 27th and Superior. A $300,000 building permit filed last week indicates its for Verizon Wireless. I'm guessing that means the Alltel store across the street is going to go bye-bye.
