Incumbents win Airport Authority race

Airport Authority Board chairman Wayne Fisher held off challenger Chris Hove to keep the status quo on the board. The board supervises an agency with a paid staff of 65 and an annual budget of about $18 million.

In unofficial results, Fisher narrowly held on to second place, and his seat, edging Hove 13,022 votes to  12,217.

Voters gave fellow incumbent Phyllis Chambers the most nods (20,383) Tuesday night.

Challenger Justin Larsen finished last among the four candidates, all Republicans, with 8,770 votes.

The results mirrored the running order of the April 5 primary, although the gap between Fisher and Hove was larger in the primary, 2,722 votes.

Fisher said the gap may have been cut by Hove's having advertised during the campaign; he says he did not.

Chambers and Fisher said they viewed their re-election as a signal from the voters that their performance was pleasing.

"I hope it means they're pleased with the way the airport is running," Chambers said.

Both said their priorities for the next six years include adding commercial service at Lincoln Airport and guiding new development in the Air Park area.

Chambers and Fisher received third and second terms, respectively. The board's other members are Bob Hampton, John Hoppe Jr., and Ed Raines.
