State lawmakers will hold a public hearing on a bill to restrict sexually oriented businesses.

Sen. Mark Christensen of Imperial introduced the measure (LB443) that would prohibit businesses such as strip clubs and novelty shops from being established within a quarter mile of child-care businesses, schools, homes, public playgrounds, recreational facilities or churches.

The bill would also restrict the conduct inside strip clubs. Strippers would have to stay at least 6 feet away from patrons.

Also, no sexually oriented activity such as stripping would be allowed after 11 p.m.

The Legislature’s General Affairs Committee will listen to public testimony at a hearing Monday afternoon at the state Capitol.
