OMAHA — Republican U.S. Rep. Adrian Smith has easily won a second term, fending off a low-key challenge from Democrat Jay Stoddard in the state’s western 3rd District
It was much closer in 2006, when Smith won his first term. Democrat Scott Kleeb launched a stronger-than-expected challenge for the open seat, losing by about 10 percentage points.
But this year, Stoddard said his focus wasn’t on raising money, and it showed in his campaign. He didn’t run any television ads, although he did pay for some billboards.
