Lincoln physical therapist Jayne Snyder has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Lincoln City Council in the spring city elections.

Three at-large seats on the City Council will be up for grabs in the spring primary and general elections. Those seats are now held by council members Dan Marvin, Ken Svoboda and Robin Eschliman. The top six finishers in the April primary election advance to the May general election.

Snyder, a small business owner, said she would work to restore citizens’ trust in the City Council and improve on transparency in government, economic opportunity and job creation.

“Moving Lincoln forward will require a bond of trust between the citizens and the council,” Snyder said. “We need to establish a plan together and create a budget that reflects our goal of working towards the future and providing economic opportunities for the city of Lincoln.“

Snyder is a lifelong Lincoln resident who has owned and operated two small businesses: Total Fitness Consultants, from 1986 to 1989 and Snyder Physical Therapy, since 1990.

As a small business owner, Snyder said she has the skills to create a more efficient budget oriented toward achieving the city’s goals.

She has served on the Board of Directors of the Wedgewood Homeowners Association, mayor’s Pedestrian/Bicycle Advisory Committee and as president of University of Nebraska Athletic Department Relay Club.

Snyder received her undergraduate in physical education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, her M.A in Physical Therapy at Stanford University and her doctorate of physical therapy at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, Mesa, Arizona.
