A 16-year-old Lincoln High student gambled that he wouldn’t get in trouble for running a craps game on campus. He apparently  lost.

Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said the boy was cited this week on suspicion of second-degree promotion of gambling, a misdemeanor offense.

The boy was running a dice game on the third floor of the high school, and there were about four to six people involved, Flood said.

Though the amount of money being gambled on the dice game was believed to be low, he received the citation because he was engaging in a bookmaking operation, Flood said.

She said police were called after school officials saw the game take place for a second straight day.
