A 20-year-old Lincoln man was arrested for allegedly trying to cash a check that was stolen in a burglary.
A police officer noticed Justin Coleman enter Advanced Cash & Check Cashing, 1010 South St., around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday and come running out a short time later, said Capt. Dennis Duckworth.
Coleman had allegedly tried to cash a check for $978.40 that had been stolen in an Aug. 20 burglary at Oak Creek Plants & Flowers, Duckworth said.
The store employee told police Coleman ran off when he was told the business would have to call Oak Creek Plants to verify the authenticity of the check, Duckworth said.
Coleman was arrested on suspicion of forgery and possession of stolen property, Duckworth said.
