Three teenagers were arrested on suspicion of robbing a 32-year-old man on a pedestrian bridge Monday night.
Three Lincoln teenagers were arrested on suspicion of robbing a 32-year-old man on the 10th Street pedestrian bridge near Memorial Stadium on Monday night.
The victim was walking across the bridge between T and Charleston streets at 7:25 p.m. when he was approached by three teenage boys wearing hooded sweatshirts, said Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood.
One of the teens pointed what the victim thought was a real handgun at the victim’s head and demanded everything in his pockets, Flood said.
The man gave the teens his wallet and iPod, and the assailants ran north across the bridge and west once they had crossed it, said Capt. Jim Thoms.
Officers canvassing the area after the robbery learned three people matching the suspects’ descriptions had run into a residence on the 800 block of Y Street, Flood said.
A resident let police search the home, and three teenage suspects were found in two upstairs bedrooms, Flood said. Police also found an airsoft pistol in the lining of a jacket in one of the bedrooms.
The suspects, a 17-year-old and two 14-year-olds, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and use of a weapon to commit a felony, Flood said. They were taken to the Lancaster County Juvenile Detention Center.
The 17-year-old and one of the 14-year-olds were cited and released to parents, Flood said. The other 14-year-old, who was believed to be the one who had pointed the gun at the victim, was jailed at the detention center.
The victim’s property was recovered, Thoms said.
