Derek Ruth, the 12-year-old from Malcolm who suffered a brain injury during a football game, has been transferred to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital following two surgeries at BryanLGH Medical Center.
Derek Ruth, the 12-year-old from Malcolm who suffered a brain injury during a football game, has been transferred to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital following two surgeries at BryanLGH Medical Center.
Derek, who was hurt Sept. 6, has begun inpatient rehabilitation, including speech, physical and occupational therapies. He was transferred to Madonna Sept. 17. He now can sit in a chair and has been weaned from a ventilator.
The Ruth family communicated through Madonna officials to say they appreciate the prayers and support of friends, family and the community.
