A police sergeant checking advertisements on craigslist — an Internet classifieds site — found one that landed a Lincoln woman in jail this weekend.
At about 9 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Mike Bassett spotted an ad posted by “Bunny” offering sex for money.
The woman provided a nude photo of herself and her phone number, Officer Katie Flood said.
Bassett called and met Alissa Greiner at Ninth and N streets at about 10:30 p.m.
Flood said Greiner told him to drive to a secluded spot near Seventh and N, where she exposed her breasts to him.
After she allegedly accepted $50, police arrested the 24-year-old, 139 S. Ninth St., on suspicion of prostitution. She was in jail a little more than an hour before she was released.
Police say this is at least the second arrest involving an ad on craigslist.
On Nov. 29, police arrested 38-year-old Lisa Marie Salmen at a Lincoln hotel after a police investigator answered an Internet ad. Salmen is set to be sentenced on the prostitution charge later this month.
Flood said the online site has been around for years in bigger cities. Now it seems to be getting more common in Lincoln.
“I think craigslist is becoming the ‘want ads’ for our new generation,” she said. “So we just have to keep checking those as well and figure out what they’re doing.”
That’s why Bassett has been checking the site regularly, Flood said.
