Police are investigating armed robberies at a comic book store and a tanning salon on Monday night.

Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs said police were dispatched to Comic World, 233 N. 48th St., at 9:11 p.m.

There, a man carrying a handgun ordered a clerk to empty the cash register. Then he ordered employees into a backroom while he fled in an unknown direction, Beggs said.

He said police were looking for a black man, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, medium build. The suspect has short hair, a mustache and was wearing a black leather jacket at the time of the robbery.

Nobody at the store was hurt during the robbery, Beggs said. Police continued to search the area Monday night.

At 9:30 p.m., a man with a handgun entered Ashley Lynn’s Inc., 2712 Cornhusker Highway, and demanded money, said Capt. Jim Thoms.

The employee gave the man cash and he left, Thoms said. He was seen walking south and then east from the building.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot, 200 pound black man wearing a dark stocking cap, Thoms said.
