The Nebraska State Patrol troopers handed out 50 speeding tickets within 2½ hours during a special enforcement effort in a construction zone on Interstate 80.
State Patrol Spokeswoman Deb Collins said the enforcement effort was Wednesday between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-80, near the 27th Street exit.
She said troopers, assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol Air Wing, made 71 contacts and cited 50 people with speeding 15 mph or more above the 55 mph, posted speed limit.
Troopers also wrote tickets for a variety of other offenses, including no operator’s license, driving under suspension, fictitious plates and no proof of insurance.
