Lux team, teen among top finishers at State MathCounts

One Lincoln team and three Omaha teams finished in the top four at the Nebraska State MathCounts competition Saturday in Lincoln.

* First, Westside Middle School, Omaha (Samuel Adams, Ben Fenwick, Mac Mikkelsen and Jake Poots).

* Second, Lux Middle School (Isaac Bohart, Curtis Dlouhy, Jackson Fisher and Michael Liou).

* Third, St. Margaret Mary School, Omaha (Sam Davey, Joe Meyer, Marika Svolos and Michael Tritz).

* Fourth, Mary Our Queen School, Omaha (Ryan Flynn, Kyle Kelley, Bob Leddy and Tim Tracey).

The top four individual winners in the state competition were Ben Fenwick and Samuel Adams, both of Westside Middle School; Isaac Bohart, Lux Middle School; and Nathan Kellogg, McMillan Magnet School.

They will make up the state team and compete in the National MathCounts competition May 9 in Denver.
