Police at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln arrested a Lincoln man Thursday on suspicion of threatening to get a gun and shoot people on UNL’s campus.
On Thursday, Seward County 911 notified UNL police that Rodney Robinson, 51, said he was going to “get an AK-47” and go to UNL to shoot a bunch of people, said UNL Police Capt. Carl Oestmann.
Robinson also allegedly made reference to shootings at Omaha’s Westroads Mall and at Virginia Tech, Oestmann said.
Police found Robinson a short time later at Bennett Martin Public Library. He was arrested and lodged in jail on suspicion of making terroristic threats, a Class IV felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine, Oestmann said.
“We take these things very seriously and won’t tolerate them,” Oestmann said.
