A Fairbury teen was in critical condition at a Lincoln hospital Saturday evening after a one-vehicle accident northeast of his hometown.
Scott K. Burkitt, 18, was driving a 1992 Honda Accord east on U.S. 136 near 577th Avenue, when the car left the road at 5:25 p.m. Friday, according to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
The car went into the right ditch, ramped off of a cross street, 577th Avenue, then landed in the ditch on the other side of it, according to the release.
Authorities shut down U.S.136, and Burkitt was flown to BryanLGH Medical Center West. He remained in critical condition Saturday night. The sheriff's office did not comment on the cause of the crash.
