A Lincoln man died Monday morning after his pickup veered across the center line, striking a semi-truck just north of Auburn, and a young girl in the car was hospitalized after the wreck.

Ricky Roach, 47, was driving a Dodge Dakota pickup south on U.S. Highway 75 a little after 9 a.m. when he crossed the center line, hitting the semi, according to the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the truck, Steven Patterson of Council Grove, Kan., attempted to avoid the collision but could not.

Roach was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 7-year-old girl in his truck was taken to Nemaha County Hospital and later transferred to a Lincoln hospital, according to a press release. The girl’s name was not released, and the severity of her injuries were unknown Monday.

Patterson did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
