A Lincoln man arrested in August for allegedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend was arrested again early Sunday for allegedly imprisoning the same woman at her home.

Sean Cockson, 20, who had been bonded out of Lancaster County Jail on Thursday, was returned to jail Sunday, accused of burglary, first-degree false imprisonment, making terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony and violating a protection order, Police Capt. David Beggs said.

Beggs said Cockson, 2236 S.W. 19th St., went to his former girlfriend’s home in the 4500 block of South 50th Street sometime before 11 p.m. Saturday, entered through an unlocked door, and forced the 20-year-old woman to sit in a chair, tying her up with hemp rope.

Cockson, who was wearing gloves and brandishing a 9-inch  kitchen knife, also locked the woman’s mother and her 20-year-old friend in a closet, Beggs said.

At 10:55 p.m., the woman’s friend placed a 911 call from a cell phone in the closet, Beggs said. Because she was whispering, police could not tell where they should send officers, so they went to her home on West Dilin Street.

After talking to the caller’s mother, police learned she was at a friend’s home, Beggs said. Officers arrived at the residence on South 50th Street at 11:12 p.m.

Cockson released his ex-girlfriend’s mother shortly after police showed up, Beggs said.

The police SWAT team was deployed to the scene, where a standoff ensued, Beggs said.

At 2:47 a.m., Cockson let the two younger women go and gave himself up, and he was arrested without incident.

Cockson’s ex-girlfriend had rope burns on her wrist from being tied up, but otherwise was uninjured, Beggs said.

Cockson may have tried to contact his ex-girlfriend earlier in the day before breaking into her home that night, Beggs said.

On Saturday afternoon, Cockson’s ex-girlfriend told police someone had sent her 12 text messages between 3:02 p.m. and 5:32 p.m. while she was at work.

The woman characterized the messages as “weird,” saying they scared her and she believed they were from Cockson, Beggs said.

On Thursday, Cockson had posted $5,000 — 10 percent of his $50,000 bond — and was released from the Lancaster County Jail, where he had been lodged in August.

Authorities said that on Aug. 17 Cockson’s ex-girlfriend had met him in public and voluntarily got into his car. However, Cockson allegedly forced her to stay in the vehicle against her will and drove her  to Missouri.

The woman dialed 911 the next day from a motel in Platte City, Mo., to report the abduction, and Cockson was arrested shortly afterward when he fled from police in his car and crashed. He was treated and released from a Missouri hospital for crash-related injuries before being jailed for first-degree false imprisonment and making terroristic threats.
