FREMONT - John C. Fremont Days officials are hoping at least 266 people join their attempt for a world-record high-heel run.

Organizer Don Cunningham says he's aiming at having the most people running in high heels at one time, hoping for a new Guinness world record. The run is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, just before the parade on Main Street.

The participants - men or women 18 and older - have to cover 80 meters in 7-centimeter heels. There is no entry fee.

The festival runs through Sunday.
