A 44-year-old Douglas woman was cited Sunday after a passenger was critically injured in a one-vehicle accident.
Deputies believe Betty O. Barnes of Douglas, located about 20 miles southeast of Lincoln, was driving around 1 a.m. when she lost control of her 1992 Toyota Camry.
Passenger Virgil T. Kress, 46, also of Douglas, was taken to BryanLGH Medical Center West and remained there Sunday night in critical condition.
The accident occurred on South 148th Street, just north of Stagecoach Road, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. The car, which had been traveling south, ended up in the west ditch.
Barnes was treated for cuts and broken bones, Sgt. Andy Stebbing said.
Nobody was wearing a seat belt. Alcohol and marijuana may have been factors, Stebbing said. Barnes was cited on suspicion of careless driving, possession of marijuana and no restraint or seat belt.
Further citations may be issued pending an investigation by the sheriff’s office, Stebbing said.
