A minivan crashed through the east window of Barnes & Noble Booksellers at 5150 O St., Saturday, at about 2:45 p.m., leaving two or three customers with minor injuries, Lincoln Police said.
The 64-year-old Lincoln woman driving the van sustained minor injuries, Lincoln Police Capt. Anthony Butler said. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
According to Butler, witnesses reported seeing the green Dodge Caravan SE turn toward a handicap parking space. The van slowed to park and then lurched forward, breaking through the glass window of the store’s cafe.
Butler said the driver intended to brake, but instead hit the accelerator.
Customers in the cafe saw the van as it lurched forward. They jumped out of the way as it crashed through the window, Butler said.
The van stopped lodged in the magazine racks at the south end of the store.
Police have not ticketed the van’s driver. Butler said the investigation remains ongoing.
