When Lincoln Police conduct a Project Safe Neighborhoods detail, it is often on a Friday night.
But last weekend, police and parole and probation officers conducted a detail in the area of 13th and E, 21st to G streets on Saturday morning.
“We switch it up a little bit,” said Sgt. Don Scheinost. “In this case we decided we’d wake some people up in the morning.”
At 9:27 a.m., Officer Jason Brownell stopped a Ford Bronco in the alley of 8th to 9th, F to G streets for allegedly failing to signal a turn, Scheinost said.
Brownell allegedly saw an open beer bottle in plain view, so he asked the driver, Roy J. Rodriguez, 32, 833 G St., and his father, Roy C. Rodriguez, 55, 4537 Prescott Ave., to step out, Scheinost said.
The officer then allegedly observed a glass crack pipe on the passenger seat and a small baggie of a crystal substance on the driver’s seat, Scheinost said. The substance pretested positive for methamphetamine.
The younger Rodriguez was cited on suspicion of failing to signal and no seat belt, Scheinost said. His father was cited on suspicion of possession of an open container. Both were cited on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
Adult probation and parole officers attempted to visit 30 people in their homes — 16 were contacted successfully, Scheinost said.
*15 other people, including roommates, friends and relatives of the targets, were contacted
*14 searches conducted
*four tests were conducted for alcohol or drugs
Juvenile probation and parole officers attempted to visit 19 people at home, successfully making contact with eleven, Scheinost said.
*10 other people, including roommates, friends and relatives of the targets, were contacted
*three searches were conducted
*11 tests were conducted for alcohol or drugs
*one person was cited on suspicion of minor in possession, pretesting a .096 blood alcohol level at 10 a.m.
Lincoln Police made the following citations and arrests:
*two official traffic citations
*five misdemeanor arrests, three of which were narcotics related
*two felony arrests for possession of a controlled substance
*one misdemeanor warrant arrest
