A district judge sentenced a 54-year-old Lincoln man to two to four years in prison Friday for inappropriately touching a 9-year-old.
Dale "Scott" Garrett II pleaded no contest to third-degree sexual assault of a child for contact he had with the boy while he baby-sat him and two other children in January. The allegation came out when the boy told his mother.
In court Friday, Garrett unfolded a statement and read it, apologizing to his family and the victim.
"To say that I'm sorry might ring hollow, but from the depths of my heart I am sorry," he said.
Garrett had a minimal record before the felony.
Then District Judge Jeffre Cheuvront sentenced him.
"I hope you get some help, not only for your sake, but the people you might come in contact with," he said.
