Two former employees of Schaefer’s TV and Appliance Center have been arrested for allegedly stealing from the business.

Between August 2006 and January, Thomas Huff, 33, 1515 Circle Drive, allegedly exchanged televisions for electric work at his home and gym memberships, said Officer Katie Flood.

Huff also allegedly furnished his home with appliances and electronics from the store at 48th and R streets, Flood said.

Huff allegedly stole $64,106.47 in electronics and appliances, hiding the thefts on various business accounts to make it look like businesses were buying the items he stole, Flood said.

Huff was arrested and jailed Wednesday on suspicion of theft by deception, a Class III felony, Flood said.

A former accounts receivable clerk, Leigh Ann Palmer, 46, 4016 N. 20th St., allegedly altered and moved the invoices for merchandise illegally obtained by Huff, Flood said. The invoices allegedly were moved into different accounts, such as builders accounts, to cover up the invoices.

Palmer was arrested Thursday morning and jailed on suspicion of theft by deception, Flood said.
