More summer music is coming your way

The summer's steadily approaching the halfway mark. The blazing temps are starting to lose their novelty, and we've all already seen "Up" at least twice.

Sigh.

But, hey, there's still a little to look forward to this season, including these albums.

Tuesday: Wilco releases its latest, the cheeky titled "Wilco (The Album)," a slick, poppy set of tracks that feels like "Sky Blue Sky 2." That's a good thing.

July 7: Omaha's Saddle Creek will re-release two albums, one from the Lincoln band UUVVWWZ and the other from Canadian popsters The Rural Alberta Advantage. When one of the best discs of the year comes out of Lincoln, you make sure you hear it.

July 21: Sugar Ray will release its first new material in six years with "Music For Cougars," a return of the breeziest, cheesiest band of the '90s. And bet on Magnolia Electric Co.'s fifth full-length, "Josephine," to be another palatable collection.

Aug. 18: The biggest release of the summer is probably Lil Wayne's "Rebirth," the artist's rock-centric follow-up to last year's stellar "Tha Carter III." The day also marks the attempted comeback of two popular '90s bands, Third Eye Blind and Sister Hazel, both slated to release new albums.

Aug. 25: The UK rockers Arctic Monkeys will release their third studio album, to the delight, no doubt, of music blogs and college radio stations everywhere.
