In 2003, John Hargrave of the prank site Zug posed as a 10-year-old boy and wrote to all 100 U.S. senators, asking them for their best joke for a class project. Only 15 senators took the time to reply, and it’s worth noting that both of Nebraska’s senators sent in submissions. Check out their jokes at the site, as well as more about the prank and what happened to the 85 senators who didn’t reply to Zug. But wanderers should note that much of the site’s other content is aimed at adults.

About’s Political Humor section, hosted by Daniel Kurtzman, does an excellent job of surveying the political-humor landscape and providing links to the best of what’s available. In particular, his overview of “The Daily Show” and its “Indecision 2006” coverage is a great time-saver for those who don’t want to wade through the offerings at Comedy Central’s Web site.
And there are quizzes galore here: Be sure to take his Republican or Democrat loyalty quiz to see where you fit in. And if you want to peruse cartoons bashing both sides, take the political cartoon quiz to see where you fall in the party landscape. (Again, for adults only.)
The Capitol Steps comedy troupe (“We put the ‘mock’ in democracy”) has been poking fun at the Washington, D.C., establishment for 25 years. Their hilarious musical lampoons — such as “Old Man Rumsfeld” (sung to the tune of “Old Man River”) and the midterm-election send-up “Super Zealous Radicals” (sung to the tune of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”) — are available to hear online or to download to your iPod or MP3 player. You can watch videos of them by following links to YouTube and MySpace.

The MyBrainTrainer Challenge isn’t so much funny as it is fun. Do you lean left or right politically? Register as a Democrat or Republican and then take the challenge, which measures how quickly your brain reacts to visual cues. And who are the quickest thinkers overall, according to the admittedly questionable findings? Male Democrats, with female Republicans second. Right. Or should that be left?
