The website provides information for those interested in apprenticeship opportunities and for employers who want to develop talent and build a skilled workforce. Funding opportunities, program information, services for veterans, links to federal resources and union websites participating in the Registered Apprenticeship System are featured. An online form to facilitate a "Request for Information" is also available. from the main menu.
"Nebraska Workforce Development - Department of Labor is taking a leadership role in meeting the demands for innovative talent development and lifelong learning strategies that will enable American workers to advance their skills and remain competitive in the global economy," said Commissioner of Labor, Catherine D. Lang.
To become an apprentice, you must be at least 16 years old and complete one to six years of paid, supervised, work based training and technical instruction to become certified in the profession of your choice. Yesterday's apprentices are today's carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and advanced manufacturing workers. Tomorrow's computer programmers, educational assistants, healthcare providers and others are joining the ranks of apprentices of today, in addition to the skilled trades.
