PS3 update 2.41 up

If you didn't manage to download update 2.40 last week before Sony pulled it, update 2.41 is now available. Supposedly this fixes the issues 2.40 had (I can't tell because I didn't have any problems). We'll see if it manages to work this time.

News roundup

Some things announced in the past week:

** EA announced today that an officially licensed version of Scrabble is now available on Pogo and that a Facebook version will be available later this month. I mention this 1. because it's EA, and 2. there's been this huge fight over the existence of Scrabulous on Facebook, and it'll be interesting to see if the real version can fight the deeply entrenched fake.

** Microsoft today announced Fable 2 Pub Games, a collection of minigames that will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade next month for 800 points. The games are Keystone, a mix of Craps and Roulette; Spinnerbox, a type of slot machines; and Fortune's Tower, a "press your luck style of game." What does this have to do with Fable 2? Apparently, the money you make in it carries over to the game when it releases. Also apparently, the minigames will be included with the game, so if you wait, you can get them for free. Supposedly, you can also get them free if you preorder the game at "participating retailers."

** Rumors say a 2.41 patch for the PlayStation 3 (to fix the stuff that went wrong with last week's 2.40 patch) should be up by midweek. This isn't official, though, so take it for what it is.

** Atlus has announced Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, to be released Dec. 9 of this year for PS2. The game will cost $39.99 and include a soundtrack.

** Square Enix has confirmed a DS version of Chrono Trigger, to be out in Winter 2008. While there will be some added features, the game will no be completely remade in 3D.

Rock Band 2 songs leaked?

Earlier this week, EA and MTV announced that Rock Band 2 would be released this fall (for some reason, Xbox 360 in September and other consoles by year's end).

Among the details revealed are some I'm glad to hear: All content downloaded for the first game will be compatible with Rock Band 2, and the drums and guitar controllers will be "improved" (although the old ones will still be compatible). By improved, I hope they mean "doesn't break."

In addition to that announcement, some leaks online purport to preview some of the songs that will be included. These are just rumors at this point, but the songs may be:

"Ace of Spades" -- Motorhead
"Any Way You Want It" -- Journey
"Pinball Wizard" -- The Who
"Chop Suey" -- System of a Down
"Panic Attack" -- Dream Theater or Finger Eleven
"Give It Away" -- Red Hot Chili Peppers
"Everlong" -- Foo Fighters
"Kids in America" -- Kim Wilde
"Hello There" -- Cheap Trick
"Man in the Box" - Alice in Chains
"We Got The Beat" - The Go Go
"American Woman" - The Guess Who? (or Lenny Kravitz)
"White Wedding" - Billy Idol
"Aqua Lung" - Jethro Tull
"Bad Reputation" - Joan Jett
"One Step Closer" - Linkin Park
"Peace Sells" - Megadeth
"You Oughta Know" - Alanis Morissette
"Testify" - Rage Against The Machine
"Spoonman" - Soundgarden

A solid list, if it turns out to be true. I'm personally excited for Chop Suey. That one would be fun to sing.
