Sioux Falls downs Stars

Sioux Falls scored two early goals and got solid goaltending from Eric Hartzell for a 2-1 win over the Stars in Sioux Falls on Friday.

Sioux Falls’ Terry Broadhurst scored on a power play a minute-and-a-half into the game. With 20 seconds left in the first period, Max Grover added a goal to give the Stampede a 2-0 lead. Sioux Falls fired 15 shots in the first period.

Lincoln’s Mike Dalhuisen scored for the Stars, but they couldn’t get another one past Hartzell.

After giving up two first-period goals, goalie Kevin Murdock didn’t allow a goal and made 12 saves in the final 40 minutes.

The Stars are in action again 7 tonight at Fargo.
