A Lincoln man was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Wednesday to five years in prison for distributing five or more grams of crack cocaine.

Brandon Smith Cushingberry, 24, was in the passenger seat of what had been reported as a suspicious car at the Wash-N-Wax, 2301 Fairfield St., on May 2.

Lincoln police officers smelled marijuana, and found a bag of marijuana upon searching the car.

Also found were more than eight grams of crack, additional marijuana, four cell phones and $981.

Cushingberry pleaded guilty to the distribution charge in September.

Peeair Shaun Ward, 33, was in the driver’s seat of the car and was sentenced earlier this month to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiring to distribute five grams or more of crack cocaine, a charge stemming from the same incident.
